Name
Advanced Resuscitation Course with Dr. Ross
Date & Time
Thursday, June 16, 2022, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Description

The course is directed towards developing a process and roadmap of resuscitation. It will embrace communications, thought processes and skill sets that are required for resuscitation of the critically ill. The beauty of the course is that is marries all avenues of resuscitation for airway and vascular resuscitation. The course begins with a trauma moulage that is interactive and utilizes residents to dictate care. During the course of the resuscitation residents will be involved with specialists in trauma, critical care and emergency medicine. Healthcare is more and more dependent upon cooperative and joint skills in a multidisciplinary fashion and this was a way to allow a truly joint approach to patient care at an institutional level. During the course of the resuscitation, the following interventions will be required on a cadaveric tissue:

  • Difficult vascular access requiring intraosseous intervention
  • Large exposed bleeding laceration requiring pressure dressing with a hemostatic agent
  • Advanced airway skills for a bloody airway requiring endotracheal intubation
  • Traumatic pneumothorax requiring tube thoracostomy
  • Central venous access during transfer of care to the ICU
