Kevin is a Qualified Station Officer with the Palmerston North Fire Brigade and is currently leading Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s carcinogen management programme. In a previous life, he was a biomedical scientist researching treatments for cancer and autoimmunity, as well as dabbling in consulting and technology ventures. Kevin joined Fire and Emergency NZ in 2013 as a career firefighter after volunteering for a couple of years at his local brigade. Over the past 6 years, he has been driving change at Fire and Emergency NZ by using his knowledge as a biomedical scientist and his ‘boots on the ground’ firefighting experience to change the mindset and behaviour of firefighters and their perception of workplace carcinogen exposure.
