A fire department does not know when it will have a line-of-duty death or serious injury and fire chiefs and survivors tell us that most fire departments are not prepared for these events. This presentation will discuss the various aspects of handling a firefighter line of duty death including pre-incident planning, survivor notification, family and coworker support, and benefits and resources available.
