There is a 6% injury rate among fire fighters. While this number seems marginal initially, it translates to approximately 60,000 injured firefighters annually, more than half of which are musculoskeletal injuries. Musculoskeletal injuries include but are not limited to disorders or dysfunction related to muscles, bone, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Although some injuries are unavoidable and accidents will occur, musculoskeletal injuries inherently are preventable. This presentation will highlight injuries most prevalent in the fire industry, essential job demand movement patterns, training recommendations, and preventative strategies to enhance fire ground performance and promote fitness and health longevity throughout your career, and beyond.
